As it is connected to the rest of the Les Sybelles ski domain, La Toussuire provides access to over 310 kilometers of skiing slopes and is linked to such nearby resorts as Le Corbier and Saint-Sorlin d’Arves. It guarantees satisfaction of all possible facets of skiing preferences and still skill levels from easy-for-family skiing to challenging off-piste ones.

The insistence on preserving the nature of the resort while keeping it genuinely rural while providing all the features of a contemporary setting is another defining characteristic of the resort. The photographic sequences above suggest that local traditions are respected in the village center, where travel markets and collectivist celebrations enhance the value of the skiing break in excess of merely the alpine France experience but a journey through gallic culture.

From first-time skiers to the advanced who require new thrills, La Toussuire will not let you down, and the whole family will have a taste of something special.

La Toussuire stays accommodating to all kinds of skiers and snowboarders with ease of its connection to the extensive Les Sybelles ski domain. There is a welcoming feeling for families and beginners as the resort has a tremendous number of green and blue slopes for practice. However, for the professional players, the colourful slopes to plunge into such as the red and black runs, are always on offer.

Due to large investments in Soviet-style snow-making facilities, snow conditions are assured all winter that goes from December to April. Skiers also benefit from fast transfers between the resorts as some of the modern lifts, such as the Sybelles Express, can support.

Apart from skiing, other activities available in La Toussuire in winter include snowshoeing and paragliding – both of which afford the guests a more elemental view of the mountains. Besides winter sport enthusiasts, there are activities for the non‐skier; sled runs and an electric ice-skating racing ring for all age groups.

La Toussuire summer activities

La Toussuire summer activities

La Toussuire offers a wide range of activities, especially in the Summer and each activity is suitable for persons of any age. Dawn and I are definitely avid hikers and wild swimmers, and the area offers a vast network of trails and beautiful lakes. The families can calm themselves in Lac Vert which is satisfactory for the eating and swimming, which is just within a walk from the center.

More serious and longer trails are located at an elevation of 2045 meters, near Lac de la Grande Léchère, but the view there and the routes are really interesting. Neighboring the area of the Refuge de l’Étendard there is a cozy place for a snack or some rest or spending a night in the mountains, perched in a marvelous Alpine location.

Another amenity associated with La Toussuire is mountain biking, where the resort provides a wide network of trails, most of which are covered in summer by the piste. These trails range in level of difficulty and while they provide steep descents for the expert cyclist, they also cater for those who are new to cycling.

Top tips for an Alps summer holiday

Before you leave for your alpine summer trip, think about the following points:

  • Prepare for all weather conditions: Even in summer, the weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Pack layers to accommodate both warm days and cooler evenings.
  • Book activity guides early: If you plan to engage in guided activities like mountaineering or paragliding, book your guides in advance to secure availability and potentially lower rates.
  • Get in shape: If extensive hiking or biking is on your agenda, it’s beneficial to condition your body beforehand to enjoy the activities fully without strain.
  • Check mobile coverage: Some remote areas may have limited mobile reception. It’s wise to check coverage beforehand and carry a physical map and compass as backups.
