La Plagne skiing: an overview

The skiing area is open from December to April of each year. From the 11 villages, the chosen ones to ski are the Plagne Montalbert, Champagny-en-Vanoise, and Plagne centre. La Plagne alone has 225 kilometres of slopes and 73 ski lifts, and within the slopes are available 17 black runs for the advanced skiers, 35 red for the experts, 73 for the beginners, and 11 playing areas for the little ones.

Owned by Compagnie des Alpes-Domaines, the resort belongs to the Paradiski area, which offers 425 kilometres of slopes.

Non-skiing activities in La Plagne

There are many non-skiers things to do at La Plagne. Some of the activities include snowshoeing, ideal for the visitors that want to explore the Alps by foot and away from the slopes. Pedestrian paths are available and are exclusive for this activity. You will get to see the mountains and, with some luck, the wild animals.

Bobsleigh is also very popular. It’s open from December to March, and it’s the only track available in France, making La Plagne resort unique and attractive for skiers and non-skiers. Reservations are needed and available from La Plagne’s official website.

Other non-skiing activities include dog sledding. Horseback rides, and paragliding.

Dating back to the Middle Iron Age, you have the Plagne Valley village, where you can find local artisans selling spirits, beverages, and traditional food. We leave you with a last village suggestion which is ideal if you’re visiting with your family— the Montchavin—Les Coches.
